With the Covid-19 pandemic, many countries need to put the guard up high for safety purposes. Thailand also has been working hard to reopen the country for tourists.
Things change rapidly because Thailand needs to be adjustive to cope with the Covid-19 while keeping the border open for you.
Recently,
Thai authorities have announced that the country will allow travelers from low-risk countries and territories
to enter the country without having to go through quarantine starting from 1st November 2021.
They also introduced this new system called “Thailand Pass”
that will replace the previous Certificate of Entry (COE) to support the full reopening of the country.

The countries and territories include:
Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bhutan, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada,
Chile, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany,
Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania,
Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar,
Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
United Arab Emirates, U.K., and U.S.
The government added 17 countries giving green light to enter Thailand without quarantine required including
India, Taiwan, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Croatia, Indonesia, Kuwait, the Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Oman, Romania, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Luxembourg.
Step by Step: Enter Thailand without Quarantine
Before you arrive…
Coming from one of the stated countries, you can enjoy your trip to Thailand without doing a 14-days quarantine only if you meet these requirements.
- Residing within the stated countries for at least 21 days and traveling to Thailand by air only.
- Must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to travelling.
Holding the Certificate of Vaccination stating you are fully vaccinated with the certified vaccines
which are accredited by the World Health Organization.- In case of having been detected with Covid-19, a Medical Certificate of Recovery is required no later than 3 months
to show that you have recovered from the Covid-19.
You MUST get at least 1 dose of approved vaccine minimum 14 days before arrival. - Children under 12 years old are exempt from vaccination requirements but still need to have PT-PCR test results.
- In case of having been detected with Covid-19, a Medical Certificate of Recovery is required no later than 3 months
- Must have the PT-PCR test result in negative for Covid-19 no longer than 72 hours before your departure.
- Must have insurance with coverage no less than $50,000.
- A paid confirmation letter of at least 1-night stay at the approved facilities
(Alternative Quarantine – AQ, Organisation Quarantine – OQ, or Alternative Hospital Quarantine – AHQ), or SHA Plus-certified hotel.
Note that the paid payment should cover hotel accommodation and RT-PCR COVID-19 test, and an Antigen Test Kit (ATK). - Apply for Thailand Pass via https://tp.consular.go.th/
This is a new online registration system for those who wish to come to Thailand from 1st November 2021 onwards.

Upon your arrival
- At the airport, you need to go through health screening, covid-19 testing, checking in with Thailand Pass (by scanning QR code) and immigration procedures,
- Install “MorChana” application on your smartphone for tracking purposes.
- There will be transportation arranged for you to your accommodation within the Sealed Route non-stop.
You must stay in your accommodation at all times until the test result arrives which should be within 1 night. - If your test result is negative, you can travel to anywhere in Thailand.
You will get 1 ATK, self-testing will be required on day 6-7 and record the result of the ATK into the “MorChana” application.
If you experience symptoms of Covid-19 before day 6-7, please use the provided ATK and show your result to your hotel staff.
If you are not from the listed countries, you can also enter Thailand through Phuket sandbox or do Alternative Quarantine.
Getting to Know Thailand Pass
Thailand Pass is a website designed to collect your information for traveling purposes.
It works as an integration platform for your health and travel as well as facilitating you in filing the TM6 and T8 forms.
Like mentioned earlier, this Thailand Pass aims to support Thailand’s full reopening and replacement of Certificate of Entry (COE)
Requirements for Thailand Pass Application
To apply for Thailand Pass, please make sure you have all these documents ready:
- Valid Passport
- Vaccination Certificate
- Health Insurance
- Confirmed paid accommodation letter from hotel/ hospital certified by Thai government
- Copy of Thai Visa (if required)
How to apply for Thailand Pass
- Go to https://tp.consular.go.th/
- Fill in your detail
- Upload your support documents
You should apply to Thailand Pass at least 7 days prior to you enter Thailand. It’s better to keep this in mind.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thailand, it will take around 3-5 working days to approve your Thailand Pass application.
If your application gets approved, you will receive an email informing you about your Thailand Pass QR code. Save it on your phone as you will need it when you land at the airport.
